Our goal is to help visually impaired people due to cataract, to regain near normal vision so that they can carryout routine activities at home and also earn a living if possible, instead of depending on others for everything. Viveka Sharada - We Take Care of School Children’s Medical Needs
Sri Vivekananda Sevashrama is implementing a project for conducting medical examination of School children in Government primary schools including Pre primery. During the first year we are Examining 50,000 children in our Drishtidana Sevayagna project area of 150 Kms. around Bangalore.

A joint project for conducting specialist medical camps in rural areas for the benefit of economically weaker patients who cannot afford the present day cost of treatment at hospitals. MS Ramaiah hospital authorities have expressed their desire to provide free/subsidised treatment at their hospital for the patients who attend the speciality medical camps.

Viveka saraswathi- Eye Donation
Keretoplasty/corneal transplantation is an established procedure for restoration of eyesight for the corneal blind people. The eyes are to be collected from dead persons within six hours after death. The eyes are collected and preserved in eye banks.People can donate their eyes to the eye bank during their lifetime. The eyes are collected only after their death.

Glaucoma Diagnosis & Management Project
Much importance is given to cataract and eradication of cataract by timely diagnosis and surgery before it runs into numerous complications including pain and loss of vision. District Blindness Conrol Socities offer financial incentives for NGO's to conduct cataract surgers camps in rural and urban areas for the benefit of poorer section of the population. Eighty percent of avoidable blindness is due to cataract.
